NECI Commons: Fine Food in a Contemporary Setting

You'll find NECI Commons, owned and operated by the New England Culinary Institute, in the heart of downtown Burlington's vibrant pedestrian shopping area-Church Street Marketplace.

From the moment you enter NECI Commons, you'll understand what makes it a special dining experience. While here, if you wish, you can take the opportunity to see New England Culinary Institute's "learn by doing" approach to education in action. Watch our chef-instructors and students from all over the world preparing delicious meals in our state-of-the-art kitchens. While seated near the open Hearth & Rotisserie kitchen, you can smell the succulent chicken being roasted on the rotisserie, and observe our students preparing a unique selection of fresh pizzas, strombolis, and breads, which are all baked in the hearth oven. Should you choose to dine upstairs, you'll enjoy the ambience of high ceilings and an elegant bar while seated at a table near one of the enormous windows overlooking picturesque Church Street.

Menu Selections Every NECI Commons meal is an outstanding dining experience. All are prepared from scratch by the students, under the watchful eyes of our acclaimed chef-instructors. And the menus change seasonally to showcase the finest ingredients nature and local producers have to offer.

NECI Commons is the place to learn to prepare the hottest new dish or refine your cooking skills. We will teach you ways to utilize the meats and produce you buy and teach you how to do it safely. If you are interested in cooking, but not in a weekend getaway, the classes listed on the demo schedule are available a la carte.

Watch the Budding Chefs at Work
You can view the New England Culinary School students in their class as they learn all aspects of cooking in our dynamic kitchen while preparing your meal before your eyes. The best times to see classes in operation are from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

On the upper level, you will see our glass-enclosed bakeshop. Students bake bread and breakfast pastries during the morning class; the afternoon class produces all the cakes and pastries for the restaurant and The Market. Stop by from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for the best viewing.
